Celebrating two birthdays this week on MHH, no, not that one you’re thinking of that’s also happening this week. So to do that, I dug deep into the MHH material stash and brought out three gems to gift you! First up, the concluding Part III of John & Mary, advice from Spencer W. Kimball, in a segment with Marie Hill of Feminist Mormon Reading Roast. Next, Mithryn stops by to give us the real history behind beard cards at BYU and share some of the fascinating facial hair drama that still exists today. And to wrap it up, hear some behind the scenes info from Ryan McKnight, co-founder of MormonLeaks regarding the leaked audio of McKenna Denson confronting Joseph Bishop about sexually assaulting her at the MTC. Don’t forget to call in to the MHH voicemail, 435-494-1427. And if you’re feeling generous this season, those two birthdays mentioned are accepting gifts at the Mormon Happy Hour Patreon page and on Venmo! Cheers!
Colleen and Lesley take a chronological approach through the past 2 weeks of sexual abuse hot topics in Mormonism. We vent our way through Sam Young of the Protect LDS Children movement called to a disciplinary court and the results of that court still undetermined. Don’t miss McKenna Denson calling out her alleged rapist, former Missionary Training Center President Joseph Bishop in front of his local congregation. Next, beloved Progressive Mormon Columnist for the SLTrib, Robert Kirby, responds to Denson’s call-out and social media erupts. MormonLeaks is sued by Brigham Young University, and also this past Tuesday, drops a leaked memo from Kirton McConkie, the LDS Church’s law firm. The memo addresses 6 cases of sexual misconduct and how the church [MIS] handles them. And we wrap up the vent fest with two brave women who are speaking out about the unsafe conditions of LDS missionaries, including their own harrowing experiences of sexual assault. Full video of the episode is available on Patreon.
Colleen gives an update on Sam Young’s Hunger Strike this past week in downtown SLC. Then she RANTS about the GIANT loophole that basically makes BYU’s recent Amnesty Policy completely worthless, as was demonstrated at BYU-I when a student was expelled by her Bishop following a sexual assault. And to wrap things up on a lighthearted note, she gives you the gift of Ethan Dodge of MormonLeaks, an interview from Sunstone. It’s basically lots of shit talking and cheap jokes. Colleen sounds really stupid, and Ethan shows off his nerdy smart knowledge correcting her. They both practice roasting Ryan McKnight, the ego behind MormonLeaks. For bonus points, what’s the phrase in this video that would make a winning drinking game prompt? Check out the FULL VIDEO of the interview on Patreon!
Colleen shares her celebration of Pride Week with Lesley Butterfield by telling the story of her cousin’s beautiful gay
The LDS Corporation has been spending a great deal of time in the news these past two weeks, first with a Financial Statement published by the church at the Mormon Newsroom, and this seemed to prompt a waterfall leak released last week by MormonLeaks identifying 13 LLCs with a combined stock value of $32 billion! We check in with Ryan McKnight of MormonLeaks for a behind-the-scenes peek at the process behind this leak and what it all might mean for big picture LDS, Inc. Catch the entire uncut interview with Ryan available now on our Patreon page.
Last week in Mormonism was one for the history books! Those whisperings that this conference season would be one to remember certainly did not disappoint! The Angels on Fire tackle the headlines for the past week, beginning with the Protect LDS Children March on Friday, March 30th and Crystal Legionaires, the woman who shouted “Stop Protecting Sexual Predators” during Conference. Next, Quentin Cook’s harmful creation of “non-consensual immorality.” Explosive news as MTC Rape Victim of Joseph Bishop, McKenna Denson comes out of anonymity in a press conference to announce a civil lawsuit citing both Joseph Bishop and the LDS Church. Shocking revelations are discovered as the dossier created to discredit Denson reveals extremely sensitive information, including releasing adoption records from before her mission. And finally, a predominant LDS fertility doctor is sued for the non-consensual use of his own sperm to impregnate his patients. Be sure to check out our full episode video and bonus material on Patreon.
