MHH61: Time for Cambio: Mormon Missionary Safety Advocacy

***Trigger Warning: Description of sexual assault, attempted rape & murder***

To avoid descriptive content, skip 3 minutes (12:00 – 14:54) near the beginning of Maddy’s interview.

Maddy Cicotte courageously survived a violent assault on her mission, a situation she never should have been in. Maddy turned her trauma into advocacy, asking the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to make many changes regarding the safety and support of their missionary force around the world. The Church has not changed fast enough to protect current missionaries, nor have they been honest regarding the changes they have enacted. Maddy has created TimeforCambio.org  to provide a platform for missionaries to obtain the necessary information, encouragement, and resources to be safer in the mission field. Maddy has collected over 40 stories from missionaries describing the stark truth of what often happens during those 2 years. Please share the resources available on her site with all the missionaries in your life. Keep missionaries safe!!! As always, if you’d prefer to watch Maddy and I talk about her experiences, head over to Patreon for the full video!
